Services
Are you looking for a virtual counselor but do not know where to begin? As a Board Certified-Telemental Health provider, online therapy may be right for you. Life transitions, relational difficulty, stress, depression and anxiety are common themes addressed online. I provide a confidential and secure HIPAA compliant video platform that safeguards medical information.
My therapeutic approach uses motivational interviewing and strength-based strategies to initiate healing and wellness. My role is to increase insight and awareness of one’s thoughts and feelings and how it may impact behavior. I strive to provide an opportunity for individuals to improve their quality of life and be their authentic selves. I truly value the client-therapist relationship and strive to develop a collaborative working relationship that is supportive yet challenging.
I welcome individuals who experience depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, and relational conflict; and children who experience PTSD, ADHD, and emotional and behavioral challenges.
ABOUT ME
I received a Masters of Art degree from Bowie State University in Mental Health Counseling. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor with six years of experience practicing in the field of trauma, sexual and physical abuse, and co-occurring disorders. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy and in Addictions. My areas of interest include women’s issues, trauma, anger and stress management and relational conflict.
As a woman and person of color, I understand the need and desire to find an effective multicultural competent therapist who can address the unique experiences of people of color and various cultures. I believe it is important to incorporate cultural sensitivity, awareness and knowledge of a client's culture, values and belief system in order to support their individual goals. Through a mutual understanding of culture, experiences and language, the therapeutic alliance is accelerated; clients feel supported and are able to focus on healing.
When not working, I enjoy walks, reading American history, and spending time with my family.
